Korean entertainers with tattoos

Tattoos are a way of personal expression and creativity, they emphasis a person’s uniqueness and individuality. Whether it’s just a simple star or something more emotional, you can say that tattoos are just yourself. So let’s take a look at some other Korean stars that have some awesome tattoos.

4minute's HyunA got a tattoo on the top of her back and left shoulder that reads, "My mother is the heart that keeps me alive."  She boldly showed off her shoulder tattoo in her album jacket photos showing off the strong bond that her mother and her have. I love my mom as well but I couldn't think about these kinds of phrase. She has really close relationship with her mom I guess.

BoA has a tattoo of the letter B in the middle of the back.  "B" obviously does not stand for the letter in the alphabet but her name. And it stands for big, brash, and bloody unattractive. Two angels are seen poking out of the holes in the letter and it's just not what a girl with a beautiful body should have plastered all over her back. I think  it’s a gorgeous piece of artwork and it matches well with BoA.

Jay Park has more tattoos on his body then any K-pop artist in the industry. One of his tattoos is located on the back of his right ear that reads "AOM," which is a permanent tribute to his break dance crew. The other is a tribute to his fans on the top of his back that reads "JWalkerz." Netizens attacked the singer for getting too many tats and Here's Jay's response.

"Please don't be too harsh about the fact that I have tattoos. It's a stress reliever for me and telling me not to get tattoos is like asking me not to sing or dance. I express my mind through these kinds of things."
Even I am not a fan of him, I have no idea what's wrong with engraving his love for family and fan who he really cares deeply about. I think his response is quiet cool and brilliant.

Big Bang's G-Dragon has 3 simple word tattoos. The one written on the right hand side of his back. It reads, "Too fast to live too young to be," which is a lyric in his song, "The Leaders," featuring Teddy and CL.

This is from Jaejoong from JYJ. In the center, in big, fancy letters, the tattoo reads “TVFXQ SOUL” and is surrounded by 2 treble clefs. The one on the left saying, “The pleasures of the mighty are the tears of the poor” while the one on the right reads “A song will outlive all sermons in the memory”. Jaejoong also has “Hope to the end” tattooed below it and It really emphasizes the meaning of “Always Keep the Faith”, which is also another tattoo that he has on his chest.

Singer Hwangbo has the big letters read, "Hwangbo Hye Jung," with a huge flower drawn at the end of it. Some people wonder why does one need to get their name on their body. Everyone knows her name but... at least I am going to respect her decisions. I think it still loos beautiful.

Tattoo-removal procedures

Nowadays about 25% of the U.S. population has some sort of tattoo. Eventually, as many as 50% of them want to have laser tattoo removal. There is good news for those who have an unwanted tattoos. Newer laser tattoo removal techniques can eliminate your tattoo with minimal side effects.

Do you know how it works?
Lasers remove tattoos by breaking up the pigment colors of the tattoo with a high-intensity light beam. Black tattoo pigment absorbs all laser wavelengths, making it the easiest to treat. Other colors can only be treated by selected lasers based upon the pigment color. Certain colors may be more effectively removed than others. It is known that blue/black tattoos respond particularly well to laser treatment -- the response of other colors is under investigation.
Because each tattoo is unique, removal techniques must be tailored to suit each individual case. In the past, tattoos could be removed by a wide variety of methods. But, in many cases, the scars were more unsightly than the tattoo itself. Patients with previously treated tattoos may also be candidates for laser therapy. Tattoos that have not been effectively removed by other treatments or through home remedies may respond well to laser therapy providing the prior treatments did not result in excessive scarring.

Possible Side Effects of Laser Tattoo Removal

There are minimal side effects to laser tattoo removal. However, you should consider these factors in your decision:
  • The tattoo removal site is at risk for infection. You may also risk lack of complete pigment removal, and there is a slight chance that the treatment can leave you with a permanent scar.
  • You may also risk hypopigmentation, where the treated skin is paler than surrounding skin, or hyperpigmentation, where the treated skin is darker than surrounding skin.
  • Cosmetic tattoos like lip liner, eyeliner, and eyebrows may darken following treatment with tattoo removal lasers. Further treatment of the darkened tattoos usually results in fading.

Here's real example of bad side of tattoo-removal procedures. This contents come from CBC. At least 18 women who wanted to have their tattoos removed are now scarred for life, after their skin was badly burned during the removal process. There's one lady named Magalie Courtemanche who wanted to have a tattoo removed but instead ended up with something just as visible — a large scar on her forearm. She went to the Bye Bye Tattoo shop and owner said to her she can remove her tattoo without any scarring like baby's skin. But the result of procedure was horrible. Not only her, there are 18 more Bye Bye Tattoo clients and all had suffered second-degree burns and will be scarred for life. Even one customer paid more than $11,000 for her tattoo-removal procedure, but was left with a big scar.

As you see, every result from tattoo removal procedures is always good. I was shocked after see this picture. How could these lovely cross turn to gross scar? It would rather than leave it instead of removing it.. So please keep in mind, guys.  Since you get a tattoo on your body, it is your responsibility whether you keep it or not. But as I posted before, there are a lot of products which can help to hide your tattoo, and you really can make it. But... If you still want to go for removing your tattoo, For details pertaining to your specific case, please arrange a consultation with a physician experienced in the use of tattoo lasers. I hope everything goes well. Good luck and tell me how was it.

White Tattooing

Tattoo lovers keeps thinking of new ways to create unique and amazing tattoos. So the art of white ink tattoo concepts were born. White ink tattoos bring new life to the world of ink giving you a completely different looking tattoo while standing in the presence of a black light. White ink tattoos have become popular request among clubbers and entertainers. The concept of these tattoos takes a special type of colorless ink that looks white under normal light. However, the ink has light in a sense, making it glow in the presence of a black light.

But we need to make sure white ink tattoos are not always “UV tattoos”. Ultra violet tattoos are usually only visible under UV light as I mentioned. Because they are done with a special ink. White tattoos are simply tattoos done with white colored inks so it does not glow with a black light like UV tattoos will. So Let's look at what exactly are white ink tattoos.

A tattoo that is drawn making use of UV white ink. This ink is hardly visible and has the property of not leaving a visible mark. People who know about this know that it is for the people who have fairer skin, though now more and more people with darker or tanned skin are also going for this. Most times you cannot make out that there is a tattoo as it looks really pale and only appears clearly when viewed in clear and natural light. When you decide to white ink design elements, you should consider how the tattoo will look in both types of light settings. While many people do not spend that much time under a black light, you will want to ensure that your tattoo can be visible in regular light, as many of these types of tattoos will look like nothing more than a skin blemish or raised branding, especially the smaller tattoo designs. For this reason is why many tattoo lovers opt for just simple wording or stars as their choice in white ink. While white ink tattoos can be covered up with traditional ink, many people admit that at certain times, in certain lighting. They may see a bit of glow coming from their tattoo, even if the original white ink design is no longer visible.

The best way to describe a white ink tattoo is that it makes your skin look like it has a lace like pattern or looks as if the skin has a self design. It is beautiful piece of body work that excels due to the sheer subtleness of the work and the way it leaves you wondering if this really is a tattoo or a part of your skin pattern itself. But you have to be careful, research carefully and carry out a due diligence process not just limited to the location and design but also include things like the artist you want to work on this. Personally I really like this white tattoo even though it looks like burn or scar. It would exists on my body in a quiet way. And I searched a lot of white tattoo designs and thought it is the most special kinds of tattoos in the world. As I mentioned above, you can cover your white tattoo with other designs if you do not want it anymore. How lovely they are. Enjoy the white tattoo!

Legalizing Tattoo Industry in Korea.

The South Korean government is considering measures to legalize the tattoo industry, offering a potential path to legitimacy for thousands of underground tattoo artists.

Currently under Korean law, tattooing is defined as a medical procedure, meaning only licensed doctors can ink skin.  There is no law regulating the tattoo industry, and only licensed health care professionals such as medical doctors, nurses, and Oriental medicine practitioners can legally pierce a person's skin with a needle. Because a tattoo is performed on the human body, those without proper training and background knowledge about the human body could inflict serious harm. This means that most tattoo artists are breaking the law and can be charged with performing a medical procedure without a license. According to the government an estimated 20,000 tattooists work illegally – often in parlors with unmarked storefronts — risking steep fines and police busts.
Tattoo artists welcome the proposed licensing system, saying they understand the concerns and are ready to undergo proper training. There is no government regulation for tattooist. Even they want to pay tax, they can't. They are just doing their business illegally. But it's time to admit and respect them because they are kinds of artists. In Japan, there are similar laws exist in Japan, where drawing a tattoo on someone's skin is classified as a medical procedure. However the Japanese government grants them permission to open tattoo shops and the profession is legal in Japan.
Tattooing is a cultural phenomenon. A change in the system would reflect a growing acceptance of tattoos in Korea, where body ink has long been associated with unsavory elements of society. For generations, tattoos were represented as a symbol of Korean gangsters or prostitute. Moreover, tattoos challenge traditional Confucian notions about preserving the body. Attitudes have gradually changed, however, as more Koreans travel overseas and as tattoos become the norm in sports and entertainment. Now it is not uncommon to see young, tattooed Koreans, especially in hip areas such as Seoul’s Hongdae area. It’s trendy for women in their early twenties to get a tattoo of their name or to mimic a design worn by a celebrity. Those a bit older are more likely to work with an artist to come up with a meaningful design. If government cannot stop this phenomenon, why don't they legalize tattoo industry and make it easy and safe?

Hakuna Matata Tattoos

Hakuna Matata is the one of the most memorable songs and phrases from The Lion King from Disney. The phrase Hakuna Matata is an actual Swahili phrase and it means essentially “no worries” or “don’t worry, be happy” and an entire generation of kids have grown up with the phrase being a central facet of their lives. It’s no wonder then that the phrase has become a popular tattoo inspiration. Hakuna Matata tattoos are almost as popular as Lion King tattoos and many of the kids who grew up watching The Lion King and singing the popular song Hakuna Matata have a very deep attachment to the phrase.

Hakuna Matata appears often in tattoos that feature characters from The Lion King. People who love the Lion King and get tattoos of the popular characters from the film will often get the phrase Hakuna Matata included in the tattoo as a celebration of the central theme of the movie. Another popular style of Hakuna Matata tattoo is the words themselves tattooed in different colors and fonts. A simple typographic tattoo usually on the arm, around the wrist or on a foot or ankle is a constant reminder to not sweat the problems of life but to let them go and enjoy life.

Some people choose to dress up the phrase with flower tattoos. Vines, tropical flowers and tribal artwork look beautiful surrounding the Hakuna Matata phrase. Some artists even will do the lettering in vines to give the entire tattoo a tropical look. Another unique tattoo idea featuring the Hakuna Matata phrase is to use it inside an infinity symbol. The infinity symbol combined with the phrase represent the desire to live life without stressing over the things that you can’t change. It can be a powerful reminder to people to focus on the things they can control instead of what they can’t control. There is also birds tattoo for someone who has free soul. Birds symbolize freedom and peace, so combining a flock of small birds in a tattoo with the Hakuna Matata phrase is a beautiful tribute to the central theme of the phrase which is to love life and let go of the problems and stresses that make life seem more difficult than it is. Even though there is no Swahili symbol for Hakuna Matata, there is a symbol that means Hakuna Matata. The symbol is a stylized piece of art created for the film. Some people think that the symbol is an actual representation of the phrase but the Swahili language is not pictorial. It is used by the Latin alphabet. Still the symbol does mean Hakuna Matata to anyone who has seen the movie and it’s a nice alternative if you don’t want to get a tattoo of the words. The small symbol can be tattooed on the back of the neck or somewhere unobtrusive as a personal reminder of a great life philosophy.

Think about a world without worries and anxieties. But I think it is not possible in reality. If you can get it in some amount through the Hakuna Matata tattoo, things would be changed. "Hakuna Matata" tattoos express a carefree and cool attitude and therefore, they are exceptionally liked by the youngsters but not limited to them. Anyone from any age group can possess the same spirit. I hope that modern people including me could live without any worries or anxieties by remembering a phrase "Hakuna Matata".

Makeup tattoo for women

Girls who do not like to apply makeup or only wear simple makeup may choose to get eyeliner, lipliner or browliner tattooed on their face so that they never have to apply it again. Makeup tattoos have increased dramatically over the last twenty years. Because women want to look good throughout their lives. Women who have thin brows or eyelashes choose to get cosmetic tattoos so that they don’t need to continue to apply makeup every day.

Employs who has cosmetic technique tattoos as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as eyelining, liplining and browliner enhancing colors to the skin of the face, lips and eyelids artificially. People who have lost eyebrow as a consequence of old age, disease or genetic disturbance. This client had her eyebrows and top eyeliner permanently tattooed. The eyebrow tattooing is an example of a "powdery filled" technique as opposed to individual hairline strokes since the client already has eyebrow hair but simply wanted an enhancement and shaping. The top eyeliner represents a thin eyeliner tattoo and a "lash enhancement" procedure that is used to define the eye without making it look excessively made up.

Permanent makeup results in enhanced features of the face—definition is rendered to eyebrows, eyes and lips by the use of colors. Results can imitate topically applied cosmetics or can be quite unnoticeable, depending upon the design, color value and amount of pigment used.
At first, permanent makeup results may look darker. This is due to color remaining in the outermost epidermal layers of skin at the start. Color softens within a few days during the healing process as the upper layers of epidermis slough and are replaced by new epidermal cells.
The best possible color results can perform for many years or may begin to fade over time. The amount of time required for this, depends per person. While makeup tattoo pigment remains in the dermis its beauty-span may be influenced by several possible factors. These can be environmental, procedural and/or individual factors. Sun exposure fades color. The amount and color of pigment deposit at the dermal level can affect the length of time that permanent makeup looks its best. Very natural-looking applications are likely to require a touch-up before more dramatic ones for this reason. Individual influences include lifestyles that find an individual in the sun regularly such as with gardening or swimming. Skin tones are a factor in color value changes over time.

If you want to remove your makeup tattoo, unfortunately, it can be difficult to remove. Common techniques used for this are laser resurfacing, dermabrasion (physical or chemical exfoliation), and surgical removal. Camouflaging—adding a new pigment which counteracts the tattoo color and attempts to emulate normal skin color is considered a poor choice by professionals. Removal is more painful and laborious than the tattooing itself.
Before you get makeup tattoo, you have to consider a few thing. The choice to get a tattoo that is later regretted is related to the end-of-history illusion, in which teenagers and adults of all ages know that their tastes and preferred fashion and makeup styles have changed regularly over the years before the current moment, but they believe that their tastes will somehow not continue to grow and mature in the future.

Let me introduce my favorite Korean tattooist.

Since I get a little tat on my ankle, I'm still searching my next tattoo design for near future. If I get a job, I'm gonna get another one as soon as possible. It is my little pleasure to look not only various designs of tattoo but tattooist who can next one for me. And I already decided! I really want to introduce him to you guys.

Nowadays, in Korea, minimalistic tattoo designs are getting popular among young Koreans. I think that the reason is people tend to think and judge someone who has tattoo is prostitute or gang. I know it is not every Korean, but especially old people have such preconceived ideas about tattoo. Anyway, the passion of young people who pursue simple beauty is getting bigger and bigger. Miniature tattoos are simple and chic even if you do not want it anymore, you will not cost not much in compared to heavily shaded dragons or skull.

Sol who is based on Seoul is famous for his works through SNS with watercolor styles. Probably you might think that Sol is an woman because of name and working style but Sol is man! Of course, Sol does bigger tattoos such as black and grey style and photorealistic style as well. But personally I think he is the best tattooist who can tattoo watercolor styles in Korea. -- Please don't be upset! I know there are tons of amazing tattooist who can do it in Korea, just my opinion. -- You can see bold colors or big lettering style of tattoo easily but not delicate one. He is absolutely talented using various pastel colors for his works especially flowers. He did a lot of flower tattoos for his customer but every design is not exactly same.  It is same as little flowers, interestingly everybody has his or her own taste. Even we are same Asian, but we have different skin tone and different taste of colors or designs what I want. So that's why every flower has different own meanings. Please enjoy Sol's works. I was approved to post his works from Sol. :)

How to hide your tattoos for special occasion

If you have a tattoo, you might go through the time you have to cover your tattoo at least once. That time would be your first interview for work or wedding ceremony. You might do not want to show your tattoo in any of your wedding picture because of societal or familial pressures or you want to look a little bit more gracefully. Having tattoo is not a shame. But, to be honest, as a Korean women, sometimes I need to hide my tattoo even though it is located on my ankle where people cannot tell easily I have tattoo. The best solution would be hiring a professional who can do a heavy makeup and how to use it for you. But If you want to try covering yourself,  I would like to introduce some products and tips for hiding tattoos for you.

Tattoo Concealer by Kat Von D

Kat Von D’s line at Sephora which features a “highly pigmented, transfer- and water-resistant, multitasking concealer” as its centerpiece.  The collection also includes a light-pink pencil aimed at counteracting the dark blues and blacks of some people’s tattoos.

For Ever Full Cover Extreme Camoflauge Cream by Make Up For Ever

Lastly, there’s a product full of coverage power called For Ever Full Cover Extreme Camoflauge Cream by Make Up For Ever.  A client has used this before for a tattoo on her chest during her wedding (she had chosen a strapless, sweetheart style neckline) and she reported back that this product completely concealed what otherwise would’ve looked like a half-gone rose tattoo.  Seems like the heaviest-duty of the three products spotlighted here but again, in-office testing will have to be a future endeavor!

Ben Nye Tattoo Cover

Ben Nye Tattoo Cover was designed for use by theater makeup professionals to cover tattoos or dark blemishes on stage actors. Try it for just $9 from the Stage and Theater Makeup store and see how it works for you before buying enough to cover a whole tattoo.

Tatjacket Premium Tattoo Concealer

Tatjacket Tattoo Concealer is a little bit expensive to try than some of its counterparts, but not outrageous. For around $25 on Amazon (including shipping), you can see if Tatjacket is the right product for you. Reviews indicate that it works well, but not for everyone. If it works as well as it claims to, then it will be well worth the money.

If you bought cosmetics that will effectively hide your tattoo, now it's time to use it. I found this incredibly amazing YouTube video for you. please watch this amazing process of hiding tattoo. And here are 3 steps how to apply makeup over a tattoo.

1. Starting by carefully cleansing your skin; this gives you a fresh palette for your makeup application. Begin the tattoo cover by gently blotting on a layer of the light-colored concealer using a makeup sponge or your fingertips until it looks smooth. Be careful not to rub in the makeup or you'll just be pushing around the product without getting good coverage. Using the blotting technique will also help you to conserve your makeup products, making them last longer. Let the concealer dry. Then, use your powder brush to apply a light layer of the translucent powder on top.
2. add a bit of the darker concealer to your light concealer, and mix the two together in the palm of one hand. Gently blot the blended mixture over the tattoo until smooth, then dust again with the translucent powder.
3. Keep layering the products, gradually adding more of the dark concealer. The number of layers you’ll need depends on your tattoo. Once your tattoo is sufficiently covered and blended into your skin, finish off your work with a light spritz of hairspray.

If you invest in a few good makeup products and use them efficiently, then you can keep your tattoo a secret without spending a lot of money for makeup artist to help you. Good luck!

6 Most Popular Tattoo Styles (2)

Tribal

Tribal tattoos are the oldest form of tattooing without a doubt. In ancient times, tribal tattoo was used for a symbol of identity dealing a certain tribe. Other than that, it was used for expressing religion or spiritual belief. For some tribes, tattoos were used for self protection to camouflage their selves in the woods. However, tribal tattoos have been widely spread into many styles and only adapt the style of the origin tribes, then combine it to the modern images. Modern tribal art is just adapt the style from Aztec, Samoan, Polynesian, Indian, Hawaiian, Egyptian, Mayan, and Maori. These tribes use tattoo for identification, social status, and even medicinal purposes. Overall, the black tribal tattoo designs impress mythical and mysterious meaning. Although somehow the design can bring kind of ancient or mythical sense, but the community no longer judge someone by identifying the tattoos. Here are some tribal tattoos. Let's take a look.

Maori

The Maori tribe of New Zealand has deep roots to tattoos. It represented the inner strength. This was because Maori tribe believed that the time when someone dies, the light will shine directly through you and the tattoo would show who you are. They also held the belief that the face and the head were the most divine parts of a human body and thus tattooing the face or the head was considered honorable. Therefore, a person who has a Maori tribe tattoo, would wear it not just to symbolize inner strength but also to showcase his ancestral tribal lineage and associations.

India
The Indian tribe was called the Haida. They lived on the Northwest coast of America. The style of the tattoos are similar to the woodcarving of the Haida, like beavers, fish, thunder birds, bears, and so on. This was because they believed that if you have a certain tattoo, you partly take over the strength of that animal. Thus, Haida style is forceful and masculine. Mostly the picture is about the Indian astrology.

If you want to see various tribal tattoos, click the above pictures.
An Asian tattoo is considered a style in and of itself. And I would like to introduce two types of Asian tattoos. Even though I am Korean, I think that there are big two types of Asian tattoos-- Chinese and Japanese.

1) Chinese

Chinese Character tattoo

Chinese symbols tattoos have been very popular in the Western world the last decade still today. Chinese characters are beautiful little pieces of art, exotic and mysterious, and very suitable for Westerners. Ironically, these kinds of tattoos are only done by Westerners, you'll seldom see a Chinese with a character tattoo.  Here's an important advice that if you consider about getting a Chinese writing tattoo, make sure you get your translation from a reliable source so the design really means what you think it does. Also, make sure to select the tattoo artist who is able to reproduce the translation correctly. Find a tattoo artist who has had experience with Chinese character tattoos and can render the writing correctly.

Here are celebrities with a Chinese symbol tattoo.

David Beckham, famous English football player.

It says: 生死有命,富貴在天, which can be equal to that of Every bullet has its billet in English language.

NBA basketball player: Iverson(USA)

The tattoo of Chinese character “ 忠 ”(Pinyin: zhong) means that loyalty, one of view of value of Chinese nation over hundreds of thousands of years.

2) Japanese

Japanese tattoos are one of the most popular styles in tattoo art. Because Japanese tattoos has a meaning and purpose. This is the reason why the Japanese tattoo tradition has persisted for so long and has appealed to so many outside of Japanese culture.
There are a number of images and symbols used in the Japanese style to convey specific meanings. These images are used to convey a person’s beliefs, aspirations, or character traits. Called “motifs”, these design elements are intended to have the same meaning wherever they are used so that meaning is not unique to the individual. That means that anyone that sees the tattoo can instantly recognize the meaning and what they wearer wants to have conveyed, be it personality traits, character attributes, or association with a criminal organization.

Photorealistic

Realistic tattoos are a relatively recent phenomenon in tattooing for two reasons.
First, There are tattoo artists who are capable of creating tattoos that look like photographs on your skin. Second, As the equipment, pigments, and techniques of the tattoo art-form have advanced in recent years, it has become possible for skilled artists to create tattoos that are more realistic than ever. Realistic tattoos are often portraits, but wildlife is another common subject.
