Hakuna Matata Tattoos

Hakuna Matata is the one of the most memorable songs and phrases from The Lion King from Disney. The phrase Hakuna Matata is an actual Swahili phrase and it means essentially “no worries” or “don’t worry, be happy” and an entire generation of kids have grown up with the phrase being a central facet of their lives. It’s no wonder then that the phrase has become a popular tattoo inspiration. Hakuna Matata tattoos are almost as popular as Lion King tattoos and many of the kids who grew up watching The Lion King and singing the popular song Hakuna Matata have a very deep attachment to the phrase.

Hakuna Matata appears often in tattoos that feature characters from The Lion King. People who love the Lion King and get tattoos of the popular characters from the film will often get the phrase Hakuna Matata included in the tattoo as a celebration of the central theme of the movie. Another popular style of Hakuna Matata tattoo is the words themselves tattooed in different colors and fonts. A simple typographic tattoo usually on the arm, around the wrist or on a foot or ankle is a constant reminder to not sweat the problems of life but to let them go and enjoy life.

Some people choose to dress up the phrase with flower tattoos. Vines, tropical flowers and tribal artwork look beautiful surrounding the Hakuna Matata phrase. Some artists even will do the lettering in vines to give the entire tattoo a tropical look. Another unique tattoo idea featuring the Hakuna Matata phrase is to use it inside an infinity symbol. The infinity symbol combined with the phrase represent the desire to live life without stressing over the things that you can’t change. It can be a powerful reminder to people to focus on the things they can control instead of what they can’t control. There is also birds tattoo for someone who has free soul. Birds symbolize freedom and peace, so combining a flock of small birds in a tattoo with the Hakuna Matata phrase is a beautiful tribute to the central theme of the phrase which is to love life and let go of the problems and stresses that make life seem more difficult than it is. Even though there is no Swahili symbol for Hakuna Matata, there is a symbol that means Hakuna Matata. The symbol is a stylized piece of art created for the film. Some people think that the symbol is an actual representation of the phrase but the Swahili language is not pictorial. It is used by the Latin alphabet. Still the symbol does mean Hakuna Matata to anyone who has seen the movie and it’s a nice alternative if you don’t want to get a tattoo of the words. The small symbol can be tattooed on the back of the neck or somewhere unobtrusive as a personal reminder of a great life philosophy.

Think about a world without worries and anxieties. But I think it is not possible in reality. If you can get it in some amount through the Hakuna Matata tattoo, things would be changed. "Hakuna Matata" tattoos express a carefree and cool attitude and therefore, they are exceptionally liked by the youngsters but not limited to them. Anyone from any age group can possess the same spirit. I hope that modern people including me could live without any worries or anxieties by remembering a phrase "Hakuna Matata".
